The Madimar was a cargo ship of 1,269 GRT originally named Bore X. Built at Oskarshamns Lap AB (Yard No. 382), Oskarshamn, Sweden, for the Bore Shipping Company, Turku, Finland. (Note: The Oskarshams Lap AB shipyard is now known as “Ab. Oskarshamns Varv” after reorganization in 1996). The ship was was completed and delivered on 17 December 1963 with a length of 71.6, beam of 11 meters, with diesel engines and a single shaft for a top speed of 12.5 knots.
The Bore X was sold in 1971 to Haapakosken Tehdas Oy, Turku, Finland, a steel and iron manufacturing company, where she sailed under her original name until the following year when she was renamed Borina.
Sold again in 1973 to Sjoleidir, Reykjavik, Iceland, and renamed Saga. And sold yet again in 1977 to Wafic Bakdache, Panama, and renamed Madimar.
On 18 March 1981, the Madimar grounded on a reef in the Red Sea off the coast of Sudan at position 19.16N/37.59E, was abandoned and declared a total constructive loss.
